United We Stand, Divided We Fall!

Extra Credit Opportunity

Students, get actively involve in your community!  I have copy and paste an email from my contact person from the library.  Read the following information and see if you are interested in doing this.  See me if you have any questions.

Representatives from County Elections and the Recorder’s Office will present
information for teens about voter registration and opportunities to work at
polling sites at the Heritage Branch Library, 350 Third Avenue, at 7:00 p.m.
on Wednesday, September 17th. There will be games, quizzes, and prizes!

If you would like to offer extra credit to students who attend, we would be
glad to post a sign-in sheet for your class. For more information, please
contact Sarah Wisdom, Community Relations Manager for the Yuma County
Library District, at (928) 373-6483 or

Good idea for extra credit, but don’t you have to be 18 to help at voting poles or is it just teaching you like how to register and all that?

Sounds good to me :)

I would love to do that..but same question as nichole..don’t you have to be eighteen ??

  Laotian Teacher wrote @

I believe you don’t have to be 18 because they are trying to get young people involve in politics just as I am. I will call her for you guys if you want.:)

sure why not?

What if, do to biblical/personal beleifs and ethnics such as mine, you are politically nuetral? Is there some extra credit alternative for those whose personal ethnics will not allow themselves to be affiliated with political functions such as this?

um… is it hard?

  Rachael Foster wrote @

I don’t think it would be too hard, Andrew… it would probably be fun.

I would be interest in doing this, but my schedule prevents me from participating. Is there something I can do to help out some other way than being there?

  Laotian Teacher wrote @

Kakashi, there a plenty of extra credit. For example, Tuesday is open house, so bring your parents to meet me for 25 points extra credit.

Kyle if you can’t do this one, just keep an eye on future extra credits.

sounds fun, since at our age we have no real say in the government or the elections.

Sounds cool I might do it, I got to see if I can first.

I’m Eddie.. in case you didn’t know… Um, in this meeting.. do we have to sign in to help out at the polls? What if at the last minute, we can’t make it? Will that eliminate the chance for the Extra Credit?

I went to open house but by the time i got to the library it was already locked up and so i couldn’t go into your classroom. Can i still recieve extra credit?

  Kalia Ricker-5th wrote @

1 question. Do you just have to show up to the meeting at the old library and they will tell you the rest of the information? Or am I just confused?

  Laotian Teacher wrote @

Kalia, show up there and they will give you the information. I will be there as well so you guys can sign in for extra credit.
